Greetings Colleagues!

While you are planning what you will be doing on Thursday, December 10th, remember to put the PAALA Annual Meeting on your list.

  • We are excited to announce our special guest  of the evening: L. A. Banks, author of the Vampire Huntress Series as well as many others. Leslie Esdaile Banks will be with us from 5:30 to 6:30, so be sure to be on time and to bring your copy of her books to be autographed! Check out her website at http://leslieesdailebanks.com.
  • The 2010 Scholarship Award winners will be announced.
  • Come meet the 2010 Executive Board.
  • Plum Catering will be providing us with a mouth-watering meal consisting of appetizers, two entrees, and dessert.

Who We Are

A professional organization of librarians and library workers servicing the African American communities of Philadelphia and its surrounding areas.

Our Purpose

The purpose of PAALA is to be an avenue through which Philadelphia-area African American library professionals can network, share ideas and information in a supportive environment. PAALA is to be a tool that fosters continuing education and empowerment for the Philadelphia-based African American library professional, especially in its role of interacting with the community.

Our Mission

To support library services and information resources in the Philadelphia-area African American community. PAALA serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information for the purpose of recruitment, mentoring and professional development of African Americans working in the library environment.
